On-Line Covers

• A nice cover of On A Night Like This by King Ring Razz and Spaz with Friends, from the promo-only CD Madhouse Studios Presents is available on The Band website. Vocal by Kim Barsky. [mp3 download]
• A 2007 live cover of Summer Days by The Groove, the NC band led by Rich Lerner, is available at freethemusic.net (mid-page.)
[mp3 download]
• The German I'm Not There covers contest is being monitored in The Dylan Covers Forum (registration not required to read the forum.) 21 entries have been listed so far, a mix of download & listen-only tracks.

New album but old tracks

Discovered on several digital music services (iTunes, Rhapsody) is this 10-track Dylan tribute Bob Dylan: It Ain't Him Babe. The artist credit is Tribute Stars, released by Charly Records on July 7, 2006. To my knowledge this album is only available as a digital download.
A listen to the samples reveal these are the same recordings as the 2002 Klone Records CD The Bob Dylan Song Book (also available at iTunes.)
This release has been added to Dylan Cover Albums as a separate item, cross-referenced to the original CD version.
The tracklist:
The Times They Are A Changin' / All Along The Watchtower / Blowin' In The Wind / Like A Rolling Stone / I Shall Be Released / Lay Lady Lay / Mr. Tambourine Man / Just Like A Woman / It Ain't Me Babe / Knockin' On Heaven's Door

Miscellaneous updates...

• The Kingston Trio Collector's Guide has been updated with a scan of their final Decca 45 Babe, You've Been On My Mind, and the additon of The Stewart Years boxset with it's previously unreleased recording of She Belongs To Me.

Two new items have been added to the Dylan Covers on Non-Dylan Tributes page:
The Johnny Cash & June Carter Tribute Show by Roland Riedberger & Barbara Clifford with It Ain't Me, Babe
The Country Gentlemen Tribute by
Bill Yates & Friends with Walkin' Down The Line.
Items #87 & 88.

From the DylanCover.com collection:
Kunio Ohta Quintet

My Back Pages (16:08)
Kunio Ohta Quintet
featuring Masamiki Takano
My Back Pages
LP: Three Blind Mice TBM-3002;
1976 (Japan)

This 1976 jazz instrumental of My Back Pages owes a lot (as most subsequent versions do) to Keith Jarrett's 1968 recording. I am not aware of any CD release of this album or track.

German I'm Not There covers contest

There is now a German version of the I'm Not There covers contest, accepting both audio (mp3) and video entries. See the German I'm Not There MySpace page for details. Entries are to be posted in the "Comments" section, and will be accessable from there. Closing date is March 22.
Most of the entries are linked to the performer's MySpace pages, rather than a separate contest list, so the entries will be added to the DataBase as separate MySpace items.
